Joining forces with the Build Local Alliance

Posted by Renee Magyar on November 1, 2012

We have fjoined forces with the Portland based, Build Local Alliance, to bring local sustainable wood to market.

This summer, we became strategic partners with the Build Local Alliance (BLA). This partnership will strengthen the work of both our organizations to bring local and sustainable wood to market and support responsible businesses.  The BLA was started by a group of people passionate about making locally grown sustainable wood products available to building professionals and homeowners in the Portland area. With inspiration from the success of the local food movement and the connections being made between farmer and chef, they launched the BLA in 2005. Their mission, to improve the vitality of local forests and related human communities by connecting local, responsibly grown and processed wood with local projects,  is something we believe in.

Sustainable Northwest will provide strategic direction, development and communications assistance to help the BLA achieve its goals of connecting local, responsibly grown wood to the urban marketplace.

We are proud to be partnering with such a visionary organization that is making a significant and positive impact on locally owned  businesses in the Portland area and in our surrounding forests.
