Sustainable Northwest announces Tom Tuchmann new chair of board of directors

Portland, Oregon – Sustainable Northwest is pleased to announce they have a new chairman of their board of directors. Tom Tuchmann was unanimously voted into this position at a meeting of the full board earlier this week. Prior to this position, Tuchmann served as vice-chair of the non-profit for one year. He succeeds Jane O’Keeffe whose term as chair expires this month.

Tuchmann is President of US Forest Capital, LLC, a natural resource and conservation finance advisory services company based in Portland, OR. He previously served as Western Director and Special Assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, and Director of the U.S. Office of Forestry and Economic Development, both during the Clinton administration. “I am honored to help Sustainable Northwest’s dedicated board and stellar staff maintain and restore rural communities, forests, farms, and waterways throughout the region,” says Tuchmann.

Sustainable Northwest President, John J. Audley, applauded the leadership change. “Tom has a wealth of knowledge and experience at the intersection of environment and economy, and he’s committed to ensuring a solid future for our organization.”

Jane O’Keeffe, former chair, and rancher in Adel, OR, is pleased with the leadership transition. “I’ve seen Sustainable Northwest grow into the strong and trusted organization that it is, and it’s been wonderful to have helped make that happen. I’m confident this next phase for Sustainable Northwest will be a good one.” O’Keeffe will remain on the board as a director until July 2015.

Sustainable Northwest restores forests, rivers, and rangelands for healthier habitat and clean air and water. By bringing people together to find common ground, they are building a regional economy based on land stewardship.

Sustainable Northwest is hosting a celebration of their 20th Anniversary on August 7, 2014 in Portland. For more information visit
