We are so happy to have this year's summer interns from Portland State University!

Thanks to a wonderful ongoing partnership with Portland State University's Institute for Sustainable Solutions, with support from Mary Vance in the Advising & Career Services department, we have been very fortunate to have access to bright and engaged students interested in furthering their knowledge of rural economic development and natural resource management and conservation.

After growing up on a small island off the coast of Maine, Grace Becton moved to Portland two years ago to study Public Administration and International Development as a graduate student at PSU. She is interested in the human relationships and perceptions affecting natural resource management programs and policies. Grace is the new Collaborative Forestry Intern at SNW and is working to help develop the Region 6 Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) Network in an effort to facilitate the sharing of lessons learned between collaborative forestry groups in Oregon and Washington.

Pablo Barreyro is earning his Master of Public Administration in Natural Resources Management and Policy and joins the Sustainable Northwest team after having served as Community Outreach Coordinator for Oregon Environmental Council from 2012 - 2013. He will be assisting SNW staff with their coordination of the Rural Voices for Conservation Coalition, as well as their work on ecosystem services. Pablo brings with him a broad background in environmental science and an interest in collaborative governance frameworks, trans-boundary resource management strategies, and economic incentives for conservation. He hopes to further explore these areas of interest during his time here.
