Forest Restoration Science Forum

September 24, 2007

Blue Mountain Forest Partners participants convened this forum with the following goals in mind:

  • Provide BMFP members with access to the same scientific information.
  • Learn and understand the scientific research behind different perspectives.
  • Present information on issues that are contentious (e.g. fire, soils) as well as issues where there is common ground; strive to augment zones of agreement.
  • Identify what science can tell us and what we still do not know; seek resolution on how to move forward given the uncertainty in some science.

Five scientists were invited to participate in the forum including: Paul Adams (Oregon State University), Jim Agee (University of Washington), Stephen Fitzgerald (Oregon State University), Mark Henjum (Umatilla Wildlife Biologist), Steve Zack (Wildlife Conservation Society).

Read a summary of what happened at the forum, or see the agenda and the biographies of the scientists who spoke to the group.
