Give. Guide. Grow.
Your Support. Your Cause.
Donate via a Donor-Advised Fund to Sustainable Northwest
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are a simple and flexible way to support our work in rural and Tribal communities across the Northwest. A DAF is a charitable giving account established at a sponsoring organization. Donors contribute assets to the fund, receive an immediate tax benefit, and then recommend grants to nonprofits like SNW over time.
Think of a DAF as a charitable savings account. Your contribution can be invested and grow tax free, but can only be used to support the causes that you choose.
Types of DAFs
-
Usually city or state sponsors that encourage giving to various causes in a specific regional location.
-
Large organizations that administer DAFs across the country. If you have an existing account it’s easy to open a DAF and start giving!
-
Charitable platforms that allow employees to direct giving. Employees can recommend grants to SNW often with options for employer matching.
One contribution. Immediate tax deduction. With flexibility to give over time to organizations you support.

Yes. Your tax receipt will be issued by your DAF sponsor for the full amount of the contribution at the time of the gift. Sustainable Northwest will not issue a tax receipt for gifts received from DAFs.
-
You will receive a tax-receipt for the full amount of your contribution from your DAF sponsor. Your funds will remain in your account until you direct the funds. When you designate a grant be directed to Sustainable Northwest, the funds will be disbursed by the DAF. Unless you direct the DAF that you’d like to remain anonymous, Sustainable Northwest will be alerted of your gift. We will always follow up with a note or email to let our donors know that the funds were received. If for some reason you don’t hear from us, please contact us!
